The VCNL26687S Proximity Sensor is a low power device with the emitter, detector and signal processing circuitry in the single 3.05mm x 2mm x 1mm small package. The emitter is a VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser with a very narrow ± 3° emission angle. The VCNL36687S Proximity Sensor provides I2C interface for easy integration and flexible application design. The sensor is capable of detecting the presence of an object in range and also determining if the object is moving away from the sensor or towards the sensor.
The range of detection is up to 20 cm or about 8 inches and 60° of sensor view angle. The maximum forward current of the pulsed VCSEL is about 20 mA with 1.65V to 1.95V supply voltage.
The Vishay VCNL36687S Proximity Sensor is excellent for applications of smartphone, tablets, VR/AR headsets and Battery-operated devices.
